We teach from Grade 00 [age 4] to Grade 7 [age 12 to 13]. Stagecoach Studio is the resident extra-mural speech and drama studio at Maris Stella School [Grade 00 to 7], Glenashley Junior Primary [Grade 00 to 3], Northlands Primary [Grade 00 to 7] and Curro Heritage House [Grade 00 & R].
Lessons are also available to students who do not attend these schools. These private lessons take place at The Durban North Community Church in central Durban North on a Wednesday afternoon. Please, contact us directly regarding the class times and the fees.
Our lessons aim to;
Develop expressive, meaningful speech and language,
Stimulate imagination, creativity, concentration and encourage initiative ,
Encourage social skills and group co-operation,
Identify speech issues that relate to the jaw, tongue and lip shaping.
Our classes form a love of language through speech sound games and poetry, prose and story-telling, monologues, duologues, theme programmes, scene plays, puppetry and mime.
The Grade 00 & R students invite their parents to an “open day” in term two. Parents are given an opportunity to observe their child participating in a class, the relationship they have with the teacher and measure their level of enjoyment in the lesson. Parents are also able to assess lesson content and meet the teacher raising any questions or concerns they may have.
The Grade 1 to 7 students use the skills required to present either a poem, story, scene, monologue, duologue or theme programme.
All students participate in an end of year concert in their respective class groups.
